The Great Pursuit is an event that combines elements of the Amazing Race and orienteering into one exciting urban adventure race. Teams race against the clock deciphering clues and puzzles as they navigate their way around a city / town while visiting famous landmarks and locations in this exciting corporate team building activity. Along the way teams complete a variety of fun corporate team building activities, relying on their teamwork and navigation skills to try and complete all the mandatory stages in the least amount of time.
Since this outdoor team building event can be done at your own pace, it is the ideal event if you have participants of varying fitness levels and ages not familiar with the area. The main difference between the Melbourne Amazing Race® and the Great Pursuit is that teams receive all their clues at the start of the race – with a list of all the stages that have to be completed and visited. Teams will then have to decipher the clues on the sheet and use their maps to determine the location of each stage and how to navigate their way there. There is no set course – teams just have to complete all the mandatory stages in the least amount of time using the best possible route. Each stage may comprise of a variety of fun mental and physical challenges in the ultimate corporate team building activity.
- Team building (great social / fun activity to get to know your work colleagues, friends, family better)
- Communication (individuals are required to communicate and co-operate in a team environment)
- Decision making (teams are presented with situations where decisions can cost them the race)
- Problem solving (teams will face challenges to test their problem solving ability)
- Leadership (individuals are required to take lead at certain points throughout the race)
- Planning (careful planning is required to determine the most efficient route to finish quickest)
- Officials (includes a host)
- Race design and execution
- All equipment and props for challenges
- Entry into any locations visited
- All clue and activity cards
- Public liability insurance
- An Uplift Events race carry sack (to be returned at the end of the race)

Great Pursuit Testimonials
|“On behalf of the ACPSEM Branch of Victoria/Tasmania, I’d like to personally thank Uplift Events for hosting a fantastic Great Melbourne Pursuit as our 2010 annual social event.|
Uplift Events designed and executed the perfect amount of challenges and pursuit stages in the 2 hour event. There was a perfect combination of mental and physical challenges and each team member could contribute to completing each stage as different skills were required.
Being able to tailor the event exactly to my group’s needs was a great experience and no request was too difficult for the Uplift Events staff. I supplied bottles of water and snacks for each race participant and Uplift Events gladly handed these out at the beginning of the race. I was also given the race results at the end so that I could distribute the prizes during our after-race BBQ.
The Uplift Events staff members running the event were extremely enthusiastic and easy to work with. After the race, people kept telling me how much fun they had and how different this type of event was for a social function.
It really brought everyone together not only during the race but afterwards as we shared hilarious stories of how each team completed the various challenges. It was fantastic to not only help organise this event but to participate in it as well. My teammates and I had a blast testing our memory and problem-solving skills, and we just laughed our entire way to the finishing line!
Thank you once again Uplift Events for all your efforts in ensuring our group had the best possible experience. There is talk of this race becoming an annual social event so I look forward to working with you in the future. In the meantime, I will continue to spread the word about how Uplift Events helped make our 2010 social event one to remember!
