City Discovery Testimonials
“A great day was had by the Year 10 students at Loreto Mandeville Hall as they participated in the Great Pursuit in Melbourne on Friday 6 May 2011. The girls enjoyed all stages of the event and were excited about being given clues and challenges with which to navigate through the CBD. They valued the trust given to them and the independent decision making required to successfully complete the day’s activities. The day promoted team work, communication skills, problem solving skills, leadership skills and orienteering skills. It was a busy, exciting and fun-filled educational day.
Uplift Events were very approachable, flexible and efficient in planning this day for our students. Regular contact between us was maintained in the lead up to the event to ensure the smooth running of the day. Uplift was very professional in their approach and worked very well with our students during the actual event. The staff were encouraging, kind and cheerful with our students.
After the completion of the event, feedback was sought from us and the administrative matters were completed very efficiently and in a timely manner. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the Great Pursuit and certainly found the experience unique, educational and fun! For many students, this events was the highlight of exploring and learning about their own city.”
Margaret (Year 10 Coordinator) – Loreto Mandeville Hall
“The staff of Mont Albert Primary School participated in The Great Melbourne Pursuit, organised by UPLIFT EVENTS, on Wednesday 2nd February 2011.
The idea for participating in this type of event was to foster team work and staff morale as well as being able to spend time together away from our usual work environment.
The day turned out to be highly successful and far exceeded our expectations as to the participation by the staff and the way that they all approached the challenges with 100% commitment. By the end of the event everyone was cheering the efforts of each team and laughing about the experiences they had just gone through.
The success of the day was due to the excellent organisation by UPLIFT EVENTS and the positive interation with the event staff on the day. The event staff was always smiling and happy to see you at each challenge and they offered encouragement throughout the day. They made everyone feel like they were winners!
The pre-event information was easily obtainable and gave us every opportunity to organise the teams and pass on relevant details to the staff. Conant was helpful at all times and always returned calls or messages.
I would highly recommend this event to any organisation or group who were looking to develop morale and teamwork, whilst having a great time doing it. It was extremely well planned and organised and ran like clockwork. Every staff member had a fantastic time and it was the perfect way for us to kick start the new working year. We haven’t stopped talking about it!”
Andrew (Assistant Principal) – Mont Albert Primary School
“We wish to express my support for Uplift events.
St Monica’s Primary School has engaged the service of Uplift events twice over a three year period.
Our purpose in involving the staff in the “The Amazing Race” and “Paparazzi” events was essentially to develop team building. We wanted teams to develop effective communication and use various strategies to solve problems within a fun and non threatening environment.
Uplift Events provided the perfect structure to achieve our goals.
We found Uplift Events to be thoroughly professional and organised. They were efficient and demonstrated excellent communication leading up to the event and also on the day.
The staff was professional in their approach and supportive towards the teams.
We highly recommend the services of Uplift Events.”
Janine – St Monica’s Primary School

Uplift Events’ City Discovery has been designed specifically for students. Part Amazing Race and part city exploration, it will have students racing around the city / town visiting famous landmarks and locations while completing a variety of fun activities along the way. It is a lot more interactive than a school excursion and will have students thinking for themselves while having fun at the same time. It will put teamwork to the test, as each team will be required to decipher clues and puzzles as they navigate their way around the course.
The City Discovery can be tailored to fit in with a student’s curriculum and subjects. There are an abundance of iconic locations and activities that can be incorporated into the City Discovery event.
Students must plan, communicate and use the resources available to them to determine the location of each checkpoint and how to best travel their way there. There is no set course – teams just have to complete as many checkpoints as possible using the most efficient route. Each checkpoint may comprise of a variety of fun mental and physical challenges, designed to improve problem solving, fitness, communication or teamwork. Challenges and locations can be chosen prior to the event also.
- Team building (great social / fun activity to get to know your classmates or teachers better)
- Communication (students are required to communicate and co-operate in a team environment)
