The funds raised from our public events have been able to assist the Royal Children’s Hospital in all different areas, including the purchase of various equipment. Our 2011 Great Amazing Race supported the purchase of a warmer/cooler device for the sophisticated heart-lung machine that takes over the job of a child’s heart and lungs during cardiac surgery. The funds raised from the 2012 and 2013 Great Amazing Race helped the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the hospital (www.rch.org.au/picu) purchase some oxygen saturation monitors to attach to their life support machines, in particular ECMO.

Alannah & Madeline Foundation

Alannah Madeline Foundation

The Alannah &Madeline Foundation is a national charity protecting children from violence and its devastating impact. The foundation was set up in memory of Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three, who were tragically killed with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur, Tasmania on 28 April 1996.

Each year, tens of thousands of children in Australia enter emergency care. In response to continued demands to support children in emergency care, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation introduced Buddy Bags in 2007. Buddy Bags are backpacks containing new and essential items, such as toiletries, pyjamas, socks, underwear and a pillowcase, as well as comfort items such as a book, photo frame and teddy bear. Many children enter this unfamiliar world with just the clothes they are wearing and without these basic necessities.

Uplift Events’ created The Buddy Bags Charity Hunt in partnership with the Alannah Madeline Foundation in 2013 to support their Buddy Bags program. Through our event, we have helped bring awareness to The Buddy Bags program for the 60,000 children who rely on emergency accommodation each year. It has also provided our clients with the opportunity to learn more about the Alannah Madeline Foundation and help contribute items to the 70,000 Buddy Bags packed to date.

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent charity that helps families of seriously ill children. They help keep families together and close to the care their child needs. The cornerstone program of RMHC, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a ‘home away from home’ for families of seriously ill children being treated at nearby hospitals. Uplift Events has been supporting the RMHC since 2018 with our Build A Hamper event. The event gives teams chance to make a difference to the families of seriously ill children by putting together a hamper for the families staying at the houses. During the festive season, we get into Christmas spirit and have teams put together Christmas hampers with all the decorations and colours of Christmas such as candy canes, fruitcake, Christmas Puddings etc.
